10,000 years is a blink of an eye for most stargates.

Built to outlive its builders, the solitary rings have been scattered throughout many galaxies on many worlds. Some are used in the trade between worlds to futher exchanges of culture and knowledge. Some have been used to stake out claims to small petty empires. Countless others have been forgotten in the passage of time.

Some were supposed to be lost for their own protection. Atlantis was not called the lost city without a reason.

But the Gatebuilders knew they'd return one day. Or perhaps faintly they hoped their descendants would stretch out into the galaxies themselves to find their roots.

Until one day, the children of Atlantis, their new protectors, did exactly that.

With a telltale gust, the stargate activates again.

Nothing stays forgotten forever. Maybe it should.

I don't know why that was the first thing I wrote when I woke up. That first line nagged me until I had to find out where the thought went. I was just thinking about that. Atlantis is sometimes portrayed as with a mind and heart of its own. Do the stargates themselves have personalities?

As you can see, I've caught up with my array of first day's notes. Hopefully tomorrow will be less... traumatic?
