I have 2598 words left in my Nano and I have to go to uncle's house for Thanskgiving. *sigh* I can just taste victory.

Then I'm in a quandry. That ugly 14K I wrote at the beginning is being included in my final word count right now. It has nothing to do with the final version right now until I can figure out how to use those words. Can I in good conscience submit it to the validator? Or should I keep going and see if I can rewrite the rest before the deadline? I figured out if I can keep about 8K I might be okay.

It is my understanding that it is just word count, not how (or how well) they fit into the story.

But then, I like chocolate covered espresso beans, so what do I know?

Leave them. You wrote them. During and for nano. So they are getting cut? don't matter.

England Liaison giving you permission here. =D

You plan to use them, or a version of them in your novel, so I say use them. I know that there are parts of mine that are going to be severely trimmed in the rewrite - as well as many, many more parts added.

Use them

I agree! If you wrote them in November, and for the express purpose of NaNo, then they count. Editing is for December!
