So I attended the first CVS meeting since PNN started. I missed the last two meetings because of illness and prior engagements. I did enjoy those meetings during the Nano novel. I was able to brainstorm whole scenes and plot ideas during the writing exercises. This time around was no exception, including a rather enjoyable second sequence between my Emma/Scott telepaths. My Emma comes off as much more of a bitch in the scenes than I realized. She is hardly a victim, but I don't see her as necessarily a bad guy either. She just likes playing with people's minds. And since Scott can actually fight back, all the more fun.

I listened to some fascinating discussions on marital law and military expert stuff for other PNN research. Unfortunately, I don't see any direct military connection with this group, but I must remember to file away some of the info for later use. Although I had to wonder at some of the reactions to our discussions and readings... "I don't know, Martha, these bookstores have some *weird* people in here!"

Jenn will be looking over the prologue so maybe I can get some hard and fast feedback on whether my little superhero world even makes sense.

My word count is currently 6324.

My goal for this week is to write 3500 words, but I'd personally like to crack the 10,000 mark.

So I'm at it again. You're probably surprised to see this journal updated so long before November. Come to that, so am I, so we're even.

My local writing group, Cat Vacuuming Society of Northern Virginia, has opted to start a trial run, a warmup Nano lasting two months in April and May. We have affectionately termed our little experiment PNN or Piconanonano.

I'm going to use this journal to update my progress rather than clutter up [livejournal.com profile] hildy. The first day was a bad one unfortunately. This probably should teach me a lesson about waiting until the last minute to decide on a project and sitting up at midnight trying to write. I decided that I really didn't want to write a fantasy novel this time around. Maybe it's my mood, but it's hard to see the magic. So finally I scurried around until I found something that did intrigue me.

Awhile back, [livejournal.com profile] katemonkey commented on an issue of New X-Men with a certain psychic interplay between Emma Frost and Scott Summers. While I'm not an uber Xmen geek, I was intrigued by the possibilities presented by such an affair.

So I am writing a PNN currently titled, "The Thought That Counts", set in my own universe. The superhero aspect might go by the wayside, if I get too bogged down in the relationship, but it's more verbage.
