Nano summary meme
Oct. 12th, 2006 03:58 pmLong time no post. It's getting to be that time of year again when I throw open the curtains on this journal (*cough, cough* Must dust more often) and think about Nano again. It's my fifth year for Nano and I'm hoping for a fifth straight victory. This meme showed up on
nanowrimo community, so I thought I'd repost for those who aren't on it. Only the first year's novel is finished in the sense of beginning, middle and end. I'm sure that's saying something about my writing, but unsure what.
2002 Trial by Light: High fantasy novel featuring betrayal, love, magic, and a lighthouse, inspired by a trip to Vancouver Island. 50,354 words
2003 Where or When: Two jazz enthusiasts board a train with a mind of its own and visit 1920s Baltimore and discover a forgotten opera star. (The initial opening 14K stalled and I restarted it but eventually it was over 50,000+).
2004 Alter Egos: Life doesn't end for some superheroes (and a few shady gamblers) when they take off the mask. Mostly set in post-war psuedo Baltimore, because I found myself more interested in the backstory I'd developed than their children. 50,190 words
2005 Trying to Find Atlantis - "Stargate: Atlantis" fanfiction novel set during the first siege of the sunken city of Atlantis featuring love, intrigue, and a very badly choreographed space battle. 50,239 words
2006 I had fully intended to go back to my fantasy roots this year, until the actual ideas started happening. Right now, I'm toying with something set in 1930s Shanghai. All I know is it wants to have a very Asian background.
