Unexpected Nano problems
Oct. 25th, 2004 11:29 pmWith barely a week left before the start of Nano, there's nothing like being hit by a wave of "What the hell am I going to dooooooo?" (Imagine an appropriate authorial wail there...) The more I've plotted and mused, the more I've become dissatisfied with my main mystery plot, even the title itself. The WWII era background of my plot and how the Cold War era impacted my mystery men and woman, however, still fascinates me. So I have some decisions to make. Do I shift everything to the past? That will cause more research headaches than I want, especially so close to Nano starting. While I can visualize the period, can I actually write it? Do I change the main mystery so it fits closer with the WWII flashbacks? I didn't want to make the storylines too close, because I guess I was afraid of being a bad "Watchmen" rip-off. Or do I create a modern framing story around those WWII/Cold War flashbacks? I know some of my friends hate framing stories, but I do like the mix of the generations and being able to look back and say "If we had known then..."
