nanonano: (write wherever you can)
"It's writing time!"

Or maybe not.

I actually woke up this morning when the alarm went off and started writing. Usually I turn off the alarm and get an hour more sleep, but I need every minute I can get. I scribbled a few handwritten pages before I went to work, which was about my goal. I don't know how that'll translate into actual word count, since I tend to add words when I retype stuff. I just wanted to get a good start for the day. I might have gotten more done if Metro wasn't so clogged.

I didn't start where I expected to, as usual, but I had a line stuck in my brain last night, so I decided to see where it went. A little more ominous a beginning than I intended for a romance...

GIP! Have a pair of new writing related icons featuring Joe Flanigan in a movie called "Farewell to Harry". Lots of lovely eye candy to stare and what do I focus on? The typewriters! *slaps head* Royals, Underwoods, and all those lovely clacking things... I'm a writing geek. Who knew?

Hope to hit the DC write-in tonight and meet some writerly folk, since I was sick for the kickoffs.

I made the mistake of relying on floppy disk today, because I wasn't sure if I had easy access to a USB port at work. As it happens, I do, so theoretically this won't happen again. I saved my work on the disk. I was going to a write-in afterwards so I printed the file. Then I closed it up, until I wanted to double check the word count for the forums. Except disk didn't want to work. "This isn't formatted. Do you want to?" Pardon me? Hell no! Fortunately I do have the printout, so I can recover what I lost, but lord I hope this isn't a sign of things to come for this Nano. Aside from Rodney McKay being mouthy which really isn't a surprise since... well, when isn't he?

I did make it to the DC write-in at Dupont Circle. After huddling outside, we managed to scrounge up some table space inside and had quite a large gathering around several conclaves of tables when all was said and done. Again it's hard to gauge how I'm doing with the handwritten notes, but I get a little more work done, after rethinking that scene. Hopefully I can shift over to the Ancients tomorrow.

I don't know why that was the first thing I wrote when I woke up. That first line nagged me until I had to find out where the thought went. I was just thinking about that. Atlantis is sometimes portrayed as with a mind and heart of its own. Do the stargates themselves have personalities?

As you can see, I've caught up with my array of first day's notes. Hopefully tomorrow will be less... traumatic?
