nanonano: (write wherever you can)
Yesterday was what I cheerfully call an off day. After three Nanos, you get more blasé about them. I do anyway. Having looked my old Excel spreadsheets, I've been behind before and know I can catch up.

My "We who are about to write salute you" t-shirt arrived yesterday from the Nano store. I went to the regular Wednesday write-in at the Borders at Friendship Heights. There was quite a crowd of us, maybe nine or ten, mostly Mac users. I did remember to bring my Alphasmart so I didn't have to handwrite the entire night.

Chris Baty included an hysterical link in his daily news called the Incomplete Manifesto for Growth. Strangely accurate for Nano purposes.

[livejournal.com profile] dorka_pegasus created a lovely Sheppard/Weir manip wallpaper. This is as close to my Nano wallpaper as I'll get without requesting one. The original image in my head was Weir in "Before I Sleep" dress and Sheppard in the "Aurora" uniform, but this is way sexier. And scruffier in his case. I can't keep him pristine and military for the entire book. What a waste!
nanonano: (miss perky has no plot either)
Okay I'm amused. I'm listening to the latest WrimoRadio podcast and in the Forum round-up, they're discussing the soundtrack forum. When discussing a thread on the oddest music on your playlist, somehow the Muppets came up. Sam the Wrimo Radio guy quoted my favorite Muppet movie, "Great Muppet Caper", although the Sam the Eagle moment ("You are all weirdos!") was a general Muppets quote. For Nano, I'm personally partial to this exchange between Miss Piggy and Lady Holiday (Dame Diana Rigg):

Miss Piggy: Why are you telling me this?
Lady Holiday: It's plot exposition. It has to go somewhere.

What? You haven't had those moments?

Of course, I was also reminded of Pooh-Bah in Mikado recently: "Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative."

Because stretching the description out a little? Oh yeah!
