Just a Girl
She was just a dumb girl.
That was what they all said.
But they didn't understand. They never would.
She was supposed to play with her dolls and her tea sets. She was supposed to play dress with Mom's clothes like the other girls. But she wanted to read their comic books and play their video games.
Why did she have to spoil all their fun? Who did she think she was?
She was just a girl after all.
Everyone knew she wasn't allowed.
But that wasn't true.
Her Mom and Dad taught her she could be anything she dreamed up.
She could be a princess or a ballerina or a figure skater.
But she could also be a police officer, a firefighter, a pilot, even the President.
She could fly through the air, she could fight bad guys, she didn't just have to be the girlfriend.
Or she could sail the seven seas and cross swords with Blackbeard. She could fight alongside Elizabeth Swann or serve as Lady Sin's first mate.
She didn't have to wear heels or makeup to pretend to be a girl. She already was one.
She could anyone she wanted.
She could even be Robin.
