I've been listening to some opera lately. Out of curiosity I checked to see where we were in the Met radio broadcasts. By some scary coincidence, "Die Walküre" will be on tomorrow at noon. The Wagnerian epic features rather prominently in the back half of my second Nano Where or When as did the history of the radio broadcasts themselves. It might be a good excuse to look over the book again. I had made a goal with my writer's group that I would finish one of the two Nano books. I had the best of intentions after seeing the perfect Sue Wong beaded flapper dress for Claire to wear at New Year's Eve. But describing fashion has never been my strong suit. I know, I know, "vague it up", but I feel like I'm not doing it justice.

Another impetus is [livejournal.com profile] grindstone. Their goals are even scarier than Nano in some respects - 10K in seven days. They're planning to offer them every month or so, giving people ample opportunity if they miss this window. The April one starts midnight tonight and runs through the 29th. There are fewer limitations on what you can work on: "It doesn't matter if you want to make the words amount to a complete story, continue a work-in-progress, break it down into two 5,000 word stories, or write 10,000 words in rhyming couplets." Maybe not that, but it's not as unlikely as all that. My one comic fanfic piece clocked in over 5800 words and that was in three days.
